The quote and the bill

Four things hide under an old roof. Your quote prices all four.

Most roofing prices change on one day: the day the old roof comes off and something turns up underneath. We price that day before it happens.

When the old roof comes off

Nothing is added to your job until you have seen it.

  1. Old felt peeled back on a bare roof deck to show a dark water-stained patch of plywood
    1

    We find it.

With the old roof off, the crew lead walks the whole deck. Most often we find soft plywood along a valley, and now and then a rotted rafter tail or a second roof left underneath.

  2. A phone held up in a work glove, photographing a patch of rotted plywood on a roof deck
    2

We photograph it and count it.

The crew lead photographs each spot and counts it in sheets, feet or squares. The photos come to your phone with your quoted price beside each line.

  3. A hand signing a printed roofing quote on the hood of a white pickup, a phone beside it showing rotted plywood, and a house with its roof stripped to plywood across the street
    3

    You say yes in writing.

Say yes, and the work goes on at the price already on your quote. Say no, and we dry the roof in that day. You pay only for the work done up to that point, at the prices on your quote.

After the job

Your warranty is two ticked lines on the final bill.

For 10 years from the date on that bill, any repair that traces back to how we installed your roof is billed at $0.

The second line covers the material, and the maker sets its term.

Questions

What people ask before they hire a roofer.

What happens if you find rot under the old roof?
We stop and send you photos before we replace anything, and the price is already on your quote. How that works.
How long is the quote good for?
30 days from the date on it. After that we write you a fresh one, because material prices move.
Do I need a permit, and who pays for it?
A replacement usually does. We pull it. You pay the city’s fee to the city, never inside our number.
Is financing available?
Yes, on roof replacements. We go through the monthly options at the quote visit, on the number from your quote.
How long does a new roof take?
Two to four days on most single-story shingle roofs. Tile relays and two-story houses take longer, and the roof is never left open overnight.
What do I get from the free visit if I don't hire you?
The photos and the written quote, yours to keep. Put it beside the others and look for a price on the decking.
